I have belatedly discovered "jwm" as supplied by Debian Etch - i.e.
| JWM v1.5 by Joe Wingbermuehle
| compiled options: confirm icons png shape xft xinerama xpm xrender
It does (almost) everything that I really need and spares me the install of a lot of bells and whistles that I can readily forego.
But I lack the programming knowledge to tweak the configuration file and am uncertain that I have learned the correct syntax with which to identify my (unmet) wish.
However here is my effort to describe my problem.
The configuration file currently has the following entry:
<!-- Additional TrayButton attribute: label -->
** <TrayButton label="JWM"/> **
and the first Button (?) on the Tray (?) does indeed have the letters "JWM" on it.
However, I have set my "desktop count=8" and routinely use at least four (one for programs launched from an xterm, one for a web-browser, one for a news-reader and one for a file manager). These show up as <buttons|pagers> (?) next to the "JWM" button.
Is it possible to put labels on these 4 buttons? If so, how?
I will submit a "subscribe to the JWM list" at the same time as sending this email and hope that this posting scores an answer.
Meanwhile, thank you for a great job!
